Home again

We are home from our 3 day jaunt to Portland. I did get my new laptop working - sort a - need some help. Nikki will help me I know. We had a great time. Instead of boring you with 3 days of pictures, I will just show each day at a time.

This is the Columbia River running as full as I have ever seen it. There were some people fishing on the river but the wind and current was enough to scare the wits out of me watching.
Multanomah Falls are just beautiful. I love to stop there no matter how many times we go by. Not that its all that many but you know what I mean. The day was lovely and the scenery there was awesome as always. I could not physically climb up to the bridge but I wanted to.

Bob. He always asks why I took his picture. Because I want to, that's cuz.

Me.

The flowers were so pretty.

Portland. Thank God for a Garmin GPS that gets us where we want to go. We set our weekend in Portland the same weekend of the Rose Festival. Aren't we smart. It was OK though, we were not in the town part. Just over the bridges. The traffic does not bother Bob but it does me.

Every thing was just fine. Pistol had been shut in all day but I don't know why but otherwise fine and dandy when we got home. I checked on my garden and the spinach is up and one of the squash hills. Yeah, oh and the sunflowers and potatoes are growing good. I will need to water tomorrow. The ground is pretty dry.

My bed is going to feel good. Blessings.

Ryan

Nothing to do with today but just a picture of my girl and I love her a lot. She is just fine today. A little off in that one rear foot but is getting there.
Our grandson Ryan playing the kettle drum. This was his last concert at the Middle School. Next year he will be at Rogers High School.

At the beginning of the concert the marching band played one of the things they played in the Lilac Parade. I would not want to march in a parade carrying that big base drum but he did. We are proud of him. Not only is he talented but he gets very good grades also. He excels in Science and Math. He is only one of 17 grandchildren but he is the one whose concert we went to.

Am packed and ready to head out in the morning. If I can figure my laptop out I will still be posting. If I can't, well be back Sunday evening.

Blessings.

A Big Sigh of Relief

No pictures tonight and I did not write yesterday because I have been frantic about Sage. She and Sage got into a tussle. I think I wrote about it Monday. She got more lame and more lame. This morning I called our vet. She has been so touchy about her hind feet that we could not look. Jed layed her down so her feet could get trimmed and he could look at her rear pasterns. They seem to be just superficial and the kick probably touched a nerve. Her hind feet were so awful I was embarrassed. We got them all trimmed up while she took a nap. The length of her feet was troubling her as well as the kick on her hip. Now it is not so urgent about her hind feet and we can work more getting her used to picking them up. So, you see I am breathing easier. The way she was carrying her foot made me think she had damaged the tendon. I was so afraid last night.

Nothing much else. Just getting ready for our jaunt to Portland to see Uncle Lyle and getting Katie's room straighted up. She likes to come stay and its 5 minutes to her job at Fairchild.

The sunflowers are coming up, the tomatoes are growing and the potato plants are big. Nothing else I have planted is coming up yet but it will. I planted a row of spinach, broccoli, lettuce, green beans after the squashes I planted a week earlier.

Blessings,

Trot, trot, down the road

Rosie just before we started down to road. We trotted a mile down to our friend John and Theresa's to visit for a bit. John just got out of the hospital. He does not look like he is really on top of it yet. I remember when I was so sick when I had it a few years ago. We visited a little while and then came home.
A mama wild turkey sitting on her nest. We actually got quite close. She pretended to be dead. They watch her daily.

When we got home Rosie just had to roll. She was a little sweaty and I am sure she was itchy.

Last night's sunset. Not red but striking anyway.

We are going to have to water our garden tomorrow if it does not rain tonight. We can see it is raining west of us but not here. That is OK with me, I will water the garden.

Pepper kicked Sage last night when she got the gate open between them and she is gimpy today. She won't let us really look at it. All she wanted was to be friends. Darn him anyway.

Ponies, birds and Sunshine

Chickys helping out. They are so funny. Can't help taking their pictures.

Rocky. I am trying to contain his mane that seems to be going every which a way. He is such a cutie but got bored standing while I braided it.

Stella getting a pedicure. She wasn't in love with him doing it but tolerated it.

Rocky saddled up for the first time. He was a little spooky about it but I told him that big mustang mare didn't twitch an ear when I saddled her first so he could just get used to it. I thought I would have Sheya to help me tomorrow but she went to the lake with a friend. Darn. I need to find a little person.

Pepper getting a pedicure too. He could care less.

Loved watching this little sparrow zipping in and out. I could hear the babies.

Barn Swallows. They have about 8 nests in the barn. We were making them nervous so don't know if they have adopted one of the nests yet or not.

Bob ponied Sage for about an hour around in the arena and around the place. She did pretty good most of the time.

She just took it all in with a grain of salt. Katie was out earlier and layed over her. She didn't mind that at all. Tomorrow I have hopes of taking Rosie for a trot down the road in harness. We will see. Love this weather but it isn't supposed to last long.

Sunshine and Lilacs

Bob was picking up the sod he peeling off to get ready for the patio. The chickens were helping. Some them even rode the bucket of the tractor while he was taking it to dump it where our lake was all winter.

My sweetie Sage having her dinner. She likes being tied out to eat grass. I worked her pretty good today. She does not work well on the lunge line going in circles. She does yield her hip when I ask both sides and today I set up a barrel and a log for her to go between the fence and the barrel. She did that OK after a few and I added a tarp. She got it without too much fuss both directions. Went back later and did it again and she remembered. I was so proud of her.

Rocky

And the beautiful Lilacs that are blooming so pretty. Love them.

A good day,

Blessings

Yakity Yak, I want one

A pair of Yaks. Isn't he cute. I want one.
Yesterday sunrise. I am usually not up. It was beautiful.

Made a decision yesterday to leave my housework and go with Bob for the day. We drove down to a little town of Dixie near Walla Walla to get our steers who have been on pasture down there. The man who had them didn't need them. He trains cutting horses and was using them a couple of times a week and the rest of the time they were on pasture. Free to us. But with the Equine Herpes problem, he can not take in nor send horses out and does not need them anymore. He had horses in Utah but non of his have contracted the disease. We were no where near where his horses are or the arena ect but when we got home we changed our clothes and took showers and washed our shoes with a bleach solution. I would not want to bring it home. I feel bad for him because his business is just sitting there.

Today was awful. Pouring rain and wind. We had doctor appointments. Our last appointment with our doctor of the last 41 years. He is retiring. Made me sad. He knows me better than I know myself. He told me to quit stressing over this stupid diet because that was worse than the triglicerides. Easier said than done.

I am not one to get into political discussions here but the person I am going to be campaigning for gave his statement to run for the presidency - Mitt Romney. And I am not Mormon.

We are supposed to have a good weekend, warm days and no rain. I hope that there prognostication is correct.

Blessings,
