Older Horse Pictures

I may have posted some of these before. I have a short memory sometimes.

This is me showing Ditto at the fair. She did quite well. That was about 16 years ago. At least that far back.

One of my favorite pictures of Rosie. That is my cart in the background.

This is Mellow Gold. AKA Mel. I had great high hopes for him but he just didn't pan out for me. He did well at halter and showmanship but not riding. He did not like she show ring and nothing I could do improved it. Even a trainer tried and he just didn't want to do it so I sold him.

Yuma as a baby. He was about 10 months old when we got him.

My last ride on Ditto. No one has rode her since except maybe Isaac being led around on her. She was the smoothest horse I have ever ridden.

Dun In Glory, aka Glory. She was an excellent showmanship horse. She did well in the show ring too but not to me. We had a personality clash. I sold her to a little girl to do walk trot on and she cleaned up and they loved each other.

It has been rainy and cold and I have just not done anything with Sage. Working on a rug and registration for the Back Country Horsemen of Idaho convention which is in a week and a half. That is taking more time than I thought it would be its stuff I enjoy.

Healing Up

Looking good isn't it. That one spot is less than an inch. Amazing.
Katie came over and had dinner with us this evening because Cameron is working late. We had been talking and enjoying the evening. She went to go home and this is what we found. Bob drove her over. She had come in her slippers.

So church was good, I took a really long nap. Bob butchered some rabbits today and I want to tan the hides. The first step is washing them good. In cold water. So I did that. It takes a long time but got them. Now they are in the freezer until I get the things I need to do the process. I don't know what I will do with them. They are black. I won't eat rabbit (shudder shudder) but I think I can tan the hides. Another adventure.

Have a great week.

Blessings.

3 Babies In A Week

Topper was #1 this week. She is a healthy young lady. She doesn't mind us getting close but her mom Jessie does.
This is #2 and second girl. Her name is Lola. Her Mama is Martha. She was born yesterday afternoon.

And #2 is Ronny. The first boy. He was born between 3 and 6 this morning. Bob checked at 3 and when I checked at 6, there he was. He is quite roan on his sides but has the red ears like his cousin Topper.

This is mom Andy with Ronny in front and Andy's grandmother Jessie behind her with Topper. I could not get all three cows in the same place at the same time.

We have one to go. Dear old Candy who has given us twins and several others. If she just has one as we think, we will buy another calf and put on her. She has way more milk than one can ever eat. And, every baby in the pasture snatches a snack when she is around.

We went to the Spokane County 4H Tack Swap today. Yesterday we took 3 saddles and some other things out to consign. This evening we went to pick up what had not sold and a check for what had. Two of the saddles and some other things sold so we got a nice little check and the old saddles are gone out of the tack room. So the box gets put away in a closet until next year and we will take what we brought home and anything else that accumulates through the year back again. There were some things we were particularly looking for and found them. I wanted a longer single rein, like a roping rein and found exactly what I wanted, a riding bat with a popper on the end to use to encourage Sage to move better and to stay out of my space when leading her, I found a good used rope halter for a dollar and a lovely wool western cut jacket. Bob found some boots for the horses because we don't shoe and sometimes their feet use some protection. I think that is all we got but it was good and we doubled, and more, what we spend with what we sold. Yeah for us.

Tom and Christy and their kids came out for a while today. Christy is suffering so with her back. Her low back is swollen along her spine. She gets some injections in it on Tuesday. I will drive her. Please remember her in your thoughts and prayers. It all stems from the car accident that they had in January.

Sage got yesterday and today off. I think I might have poked her with the scissors when I was clipping her bridle bath the other day. She never has been ear shy and this seems to be on her poll more than ears.

Ezra is doing well. He is happy to be home. Sheya, our granddaughter, played with him some today and he loved her. She played with Raspberry too and Raspberry loved her also. She wanted to ride but they did not stay too long and we had to go get out stuff so maybe next time.

Spring is in the air.

Me at 15. At our home in Roy, WA.
My sister, by Grandma Foreman and me. We lived in Algona, just outside Auburn. My grandma was a little tiny lady about 4"11 I think but she looks tall in the picture.

No pictures of my ride today but it was awesome. I worked her a while in the round pen, went for a walk down the road and came back and rode her a while in the round pen. She did anything I asked her. So then Bob attached the lead rope and we went for a walk around the house a couple of times, around the barn and out into a field. He didn't lead her but just walked at her shoulder. I was so excited, wanted to go for a long ride somewhere but Bob wouldn't let me. It probably wasn't too smart.

I hope we get to see the Northern Lights tonight. I am going to go out and see. It says the best is about midnight and I turn into a pumpkin by that time.

Good Day Sun Shine

Here is just a little bitty cut, all that is left of that ugly big one we started out with. I am really amazed. The hair is growing in on the places that were cut.

A picture of me in her eye, taking a picture of her eye.

I got to ride a bit today. She was not as good today and fought the bridle. She acted like it was too tight but its no different than it has been since I have been putting a bridle on her. I may let it out one notch and see where it sits in her mouth tomorrow. It is supposed to be sunny again so I will have a chance at more than one day at a time. I think I upset Bob because he was over working in his shop and I got on and then called him and told him where I was. I don't know if its me or Sage he doesn't trust. What everyone that says he just doesn't want you to get hurt don't understand is I don't want to get hurt. We were in the round pen and I would have gotten off quickly if there was any sign of trouble. I am not irresponsible and I have been riding a long time.

It is supposed to go to 17 tonight which means 15 or less here. So with a little of new bunny babies and a cow ready to drop a calf anytime, it is kind of a worry. That and a full moon?

Just A Monday

An awful picture and I don't know how to remove it. It was 30 years ago (almost) at our 25th. anniversary party.
Somewhere in Montana. Bob can't remember where it was.

Ryan on his trip with Grandpa 5 years ago. That is him ambling along on Pepper. Rosie with the pack on behind either Raven or Wrangler.

Two years ago when I was in Mississippi visiting my niece, her husband and my special Caroline. She was between her junior and senior high school year there but now she is in the last semester of her first year of college.

Ezra is great, he still hasn't stopped eating, and is always glad to see us. I will try to remember to take a picture of Sage's cheek tomorrow. Its just about all healed up. It looks good.

Still no baby calf. I told Bob to quit hovering and she would have it. He worries about first calf heifers.

A Great Sunday

This was a beautiful day. Raspberry had a good time just bouncing around off and on things all over the place. She follows me to the house and wants to come in bad. No house goat though.
Ezra meeting his fellow donkeys through the fence today. He needs a hoof trimmed on his one hind foot but he is very touchy about that part of his anatomy so Bob is going to wait a while for him to settle in before he tackles it. He is eating well - constantly. He seemed glad to get outside for a while. He wants to be close to Bob though. I tried to lead him opposite where Bob was and he didn't want to go. He did but he kept looking back for Bob.

I love donkey ears. His are really long.

And his eyes on the shaggy face. He loves having his face rubbed.

Katie came over this afternoon and asked me to go for a walk with her. We had a good chat and walked. We walked about a mile - good for both of us.

I took a good nap today. I was watching the start of the NASCAR race and woke up to see who won. Felt better.

Bob is checking off and on tonight. A first calf heifer is acting like tonight is the night. Bob is concerned about her. I hope she does OK. Topper is doing well. She bounces around like a ball when she gets to playing.

Church was good this morning. Saw our special friends Greg and Lisa. Greg is our music pastor and Lisa is the sweetest person. She loves me and I love her. From the moment we met when they came to our church and she was wounded and hurting. God has done great things in their lives and he is an awesome worship leader.

So, that is our Sunday,

Blessings,
