HOME AGAIN HOME AGAIN

This past week Bob and I have been in Burns, Oregon staying with our friend Andi. She has a lovely trailer she uses as a guest house and we availed ourselves to it. We got to visit with her and on her days off we did fun things for the most part. Her husband committed suicide a month ago and we were glad to be able to stay with her and lend her a hand with some things. Her nephew, BiL and Bob cleaned out three sheds and did some building for her. On Saturday we helped her with a yard sale. Enjoyed out stay so much. Other than a nasty cold that I seemed to not be able to ride myself of we had a nice visit.
One day while she had to work, Bob and I went by the BLM office and saw Ramona and Tara. Ramona is such a precious friend also. Then we went out to the corrals and visited with Wendy who had delivered Sage to me. Tom was off hunting so we missed him. We spent a long time looking at the horses in the corrals. The baby in the picture above was just stunning. I loved him (or her). Isn't that a cute face.
What you doing huh? Almost came up to the fence but couldn't quite bring himself to do that.

This mare and foal were so sweet. I think they are getting ready to wean soon.

These two youngsters were playing king of the mountain.

Isn't she pretty. Looks a lot like a filly we used to have - Lily.

I loved his markings.

A sunrise picture out of Andi's yard across the road to the Rattlesnakes.

This was on the side of a wagon in Frenchglen.

In the South Steens. This youngster was with a mare with a sorrel baby too. I don't know if this was a yearling (pretty small if that's so) and the other was this years but they were close together.

Isn't that a beautiful mare?

We thought that was Honor but somehow I am not sure. The white baby was trailing along behind. There were a lot of hunters up there and they had had tons of people up there and a lot of shooting going on so they were a little leery. Not so usually. We saw a couple of other groups far off with binoculars.

Big Indian Gorge. It was really beautiful. Did not want to hike to the bottom however.

Bob and Andi conferring on something.

Doesn't that look like a volcano smoking. It wasn't though, just a cloud.

Kiger Gorge. The horses are at the other end though. It was so beautiful.

Another day we went down to see if we could get in to see Paisley Horses. I wanted to see where Sage was from. My Toyota Camry would not do those roads so we did not see horses there. I was disappointed. We did see a gazillion antelope however. Well maybe that is an exaggeration but a lot of them

And this guy basking in the sun. Not far off the road. He was posing for us.

Aspen trees in the Steens.

Andi's foundation QH stallion Skipper. He is so cute.
We had a great time. I will try to post more pictures tomorrow. This is quite a group of pictures I know.
I am making more tomato sauce today. Will finish it tomorrow and get it in the freezer. I still have a ton of tomatoes to do something with. I may make spaghetti sauce
My cold is much better, still coughing some but not like I was. Tomorrow is my check up with the cardiologist. I am dreading that. He is going to lecture me about my weight. Gained a couple of pounds last week and no time to walk it off before tomorrow. Oh well, such is life.
Bob is going back to Burns tomorrow. He bought some cattle and has to go after him. I am not going. I do not feel like sitting for that far and quick ride. He will be back on Friday.
I played with Sage some today. She acted glad to see me. She is shedding her summer coat like mad.
I did a bunch of laundry today. Now that is caught up I can relax some. Hope you all have a great tomorrow. Blessings

Two Roads

TWO ROADS
The road we live on is Christensen but Brooks ends up at an intersection and then goes on
as Christensen. Same road, different name. Make sense, of course not, not to us either.

Sage was so wonderful today. She loves me and wants my attention. That makes me very very happy. I scratched her neck, rubbed her all over and down her legs clear to her hoof. On both sides. I took her out and let her eat grass. Steve was pounding at the new back porch and Bob had the tractor running and she just kept eating. Calm and quiet. She is going to make me a great horse.

I made tomatoe sauce yesterday and today. I put it in the freezer rather than can it. Ten pounds of tomatoes don't make too much though.

We are leaving tomorrow morning as soon as the chores are done. I wish I had a lap top but I don't so I won't be posting a blog until after next Tuesday. We will be in Burns, Oregon looking at wild horses, visiting with Andi, going to the corrals and who knows what else. I hope to meet up with Face Book friend Maggie who is going to be down there ambling around too.

See you later,
Blessings

Precious Treasure

This picture was taken nearly 8 years ago. It was Thanksgiving day that year. On Face Book I said 6 weeks later but actually it was 2 1/2 months later that Scott - the one on the far left- died suddenly of a heart attack so this picture is truly my PRECIOUS TREASURE. The last of the five together.
And on the lighter side that is the couch I got rid of with the pink flowers so it truly was old and worn out.
I feel l00% better today. Went out to Sage for a couple of times for about 10 minutes each time. We put the halter off and on and picked up feet and just loved on her. She has two places she wants me to scratch, under her jowls and on her withers. She makes the funniest faces and does all sorts of contortions with her head to get me to run there. Love that horse. I mean I LOVE that horse.
I am about packed - at least for me. Guess I better get at Bob's stuff soon. He would go without anything if I didn't do it. We went to TN one time and he insisted he could pack himself and when we got there he had no socks and no shirts. Just what he had on. Since then, I do it. We are staying with our friend Andi in Burns.
Blessings.

Balance

This was a very hard word - BALANCE - to find something to take a picture of. This is my attempt. Sages front feet are about balanced - the same -. I might be stretching it but its my thinking today.
Sage is completely halter free as of today. I still am not feeling on top of the world. So I just went out and rubbed and petted and hugged on her. She let me put the halter off and on several times so I just left it off. She is getting more friendly all the time. Love it. She had an itchy spot under her jaw and I scratched it and I had to laugh at the contortions she put her head in to get me to scratch in just the right spot.
Did not go to church today. I still am sneezing and coughing. Don't need to spread this around any more. At least all the junk is leaving my head. It better hurry up because we are leaving on our trip on Wednesday. Hook or crook, I am going. The last time we had a trip planned to go look at wild horses I ended up in the hospital for a week with pneumonia. We did get to go but several weeks later. That was a trip to Wyoming and this time to Oregon. I will take a lot of pictures.
Shannon is working with Emma. She is doing well with Emma. We just needed to do something different and Shannon offered. Bob was getting frustrated and that never works.
Blessings.

DREAMING

My favorite trail to ride in the entire country. I call it the Enchanted Forest. You can ride along and just dream away. The trail is Clearwater Crossing in western Montana. It is so quiet and peaceful. Bob and I ride along not talking, just letting the trees talk to us.

The sky is on fire. Another of our drop dead gorgeous sunsets from my front porch this evening.

Bob is off turkey hunting and I am relaxing just like the doctor ordered.

Blessings

WAITING

When you going to come play?
Today was day one of a photo challenge I am taking part in and the work of the day is waiting.
Actually I did do just a little with her today. We moved her to a different pen. She had not been touched for over 3 weeks. I went in and rubbed her shoulder and neck and put on a regular lead rope instead of the 20 footer I usually use. There are piles of dirt around outside her pen and stuff from the construction of the barn. She just followed me right out like she knew she should. At one point she jumped into my space. I touched her shoulder with my finger and she went right back where she should. I lead her across the round pen and into her new pen. It has a little more room and Sage does not need the high mustang fence any more. I was so proud of her.
I have a severe sinus infection. Went to the doctor yesterday and am on antibiotics. I feel much better today and am not coughing near as much That is a relief. The doctor told me to relax over the weekend so that is what I will do.
This afternoon we went down to Ritzville to meet out daughter Nikki and her friend Rita. I needed to get the things I forgot when I was over at Nikki's. They are there to go to a Mennonite Church Quilt Auction. They do sell some other things but its mostly lovely quilts that for the most part are hand pieced and hand quilted. I went with them about 3 years ago and Rita bought one for over a thousand dollars. They are beautiful but WAY out of my budget.
Blessings
