Another baby for Candy

We have neighbors who have a dairy and they do not keep bull calves so we are on their list. Hershey was born late yesterday and he came here this morning. He and Snickers are getting acquainted.

Bob teaching him to eat. One thing getting them from the dairy they never have sucked on Mom. The colustrum is milked twice and fed in a bottle and away they go.

He caught on pretty fast. We tie Candy up for a few days before we turn them together. We fed at 8 and Bob will feed about 5. She is a good cow and we can always give her a tag along because she has so much milk.

This tractor is for sale. Bob wants $1,100 for it. It is not big enough for what we need.

Ezra was not happy with us this evening. I am not sure why. We didn't put him out because the weather was so nasty. He dug a big hole pawing at the gate. We wormed him yesterday and in 2 weeks once more and then he should be set for the normal routine of worming.

We went and looked at a young horse. He is aggresive and no respect. We are going to get him tomorrow and see what we can do. They said a pony but he is not a pony.

Last New Baby

This is Snickers. He was born late this afternoon. He was very friendly. That is Ronni behind him. We thought it was a he but naw, he is a she and I just changed the spelling on her name.

Topper as of today. A curious little girl

Lola born on the 9th.

So that is our cows. We will get another calf to put on Candy with Snickers. She always has plenty for two. It shows her dairy bloodline. This is her first bull calf. She has always just had heifers. She will take as many calves and we put on her. She nurses the entire group of babies at one time or the other.

I know my blog is supposed to be after mustang horses but it seems I get sidetracked with our other critters too.

First Day of Spring - Blahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

This is what we woke up to for the first day of spring. It did not make me happy. Then it rained and then it snowed, and then it rained and then it hailed. We are supposed to wake up to more snow in the morning. No way to get out and ride or even to do ground work.

So such was my grumpy day.

A new week

What is that? It was Raspberry. She was bouncing around like a goat sized ball and Sage wondered what on earth she was.
I was cleaning stalls. Sage was just practicing standing tied and Ezra didn't want to practice. He didn't want her nose aiming at him either. I took him for a walk too. Then I had this idea to put him in a little pasture area. I thought he would like being out there. He went to the middle and hung his head. When he saw he coming he started he hawing loud. I think he was saying I don't like it out here by myself. I won't try that again. THEN I put him back in his stall. I went to lay down and read a while and my phone rang and it was Katie. She said I thought you would want to know the donkey was out. I went and got a halter and lead and he let me walk right up and take him back. I know I fastened it good but he got it undone some how.

Horses

These are all pictures of horses that are not ours. This was a team getting ready to pull a wagon around the Kentucky Horse Park. We did not know they were a tour group and we just climbed aboard and then got out when they told us. But I did get this picture.
Some people we knew north of Seattle had this guy. His name was Rod Stewart. Unfortunately the economy got them and he went to a new home.

Bob working with Emma. We still can not get a halter on her and she is still here. I keep thinking they will take her home but...................

I think these were in Burns but I don't know.

I know this horse was.

I have been sick with a stomach flu bug. I am much better today but still my energy level is still off kilter. I have not gotten outside for two days now. Tomorrow is a must.

Blessings.

Older Horse Pictures

I may have posted some of these before. I have a short memory sometimes.

This is me showing Ditto at the fair. She did quite well. That was about 16 years ago. At least that far back.

One of my favorite pictures of Rosie. That is my cart in the background.

This is Mellow Gold. AKA Mel. I had great high hopes for him but he just didn't pan out for me. He did well at halter and showmanship but not riding. He did not like she show ring and nothing I could do improved it. Even a trainer tried and he just didn't want to do it so I sold him.

Yuma as a baby. He was about 10 months old when we got him.

My last ride on Ditto. No one has rode her since except maybe Isaac being led around on her. She was the smoothest horse I have ever ridden.

Dun In Glory, aka Glory. She was an excellent showmanship horse. She did well in the show ring too but not to me. We had a personality clash. I sold her to a little girl to do walk trot on and she cleaned up and they loved each other.

It has been rainy and cold and I have just not done anything with Sage. Working on a rug and registration for the Back Country Horsemen of Idaho convention which is in a week and a half. That is taking more time than I thought it would be its stuff I enjoy.
