More Snow but fun

The hugging donkey. Chemmy loves to be cuddled.

Bob and I coming around the barn. It was so fun.

The two "old folks" having fun.

Out on our "road" through the snow. I will have to make some changes to the harness. The tugs (the straps that connect Rosie with the sleigh) are too long and the shaves (the long wooden pole like things that she is in between) are not up where they belong. It has worked yesterday and today but is not as comfortable I know. And the over check broke. The over check, actually she has a side check bridle is the part of the bridle that hooks on the the saddle(the part that goes around her body) to keep her from being able to put her head down. Not a necessity but it makes her hold her head better. It was snowing today so the sleigh did not slide as easily as it did yesterday.

Chemmy and Yuma. If I had appropriate harnesses, I would teach them to drive.

Rusty. Have not posted a picture of her for a while.

My flying dog. He bounces along so funny. Missed his ears flying this time.
One of the reasons I had to sled out today, other than its fun, is a friend of Katie's is fighting breast cancer. She lives in the area and wanted to ride in the sleigh really bad. So she got her ride. She had chemo yesterday and had a hard time getting in and out but I was so happy to make her day brighter.
Other than that, we had fun with Cameron and Katie and our neighbor Theresa. Love it when people come by.
Not a whole lot going on. It is supposed to rain tonight and I hate that. It makes things so sloggy and messy. Then one digit cold again and more snow.
Blessings.

Pictures at last

Out driving on trails Bob plowed around three fields with the tractor. That makes it easier for Rosie to pull the sleigh. It is a Portland Cutter. I love it, it has a green velvet seat and is shiny black.
Heading out. It was so fun. The road is beginning to break up so could not go out there. I had intended to drive down to Shannon's but gave up on that.

Just after our first round at a brisk trot. Rosie will do about anything we ask her to but her favorite thing is pulling the sleigh or a buggy. Its what she was born to do.

Nathaniel's first birthday and his cake. He would not dig into it. I put his hand in the top and it upset him. He never did. Bless his heart.

Lili singing me a song and doing some arm swinging along with it. She is a kick. She greeted us with big hugs and kisses.

The birthday boy. I may be prejudice but I thing he is really one handsome little dude.

Our road on Sunday morning. The icicle was down the windshield.

One of our lovely sunsets this past week.

I was trying to take a picture of Sage and she was determined to put her nose against the lens. What is it Mom, what is this, huh?

Out the window by my computer. It doesn't show the diamonds on the snow though. Well not really diamonds but it shone like there was.

Out the dining room window. Snow was coming off the roof. When it comes off it makes a big noise and the dogs go nutty.

Pistol and her brother Paco. He is longer and a little taller but they look a lot alike and they act alike. They had such fun romping for a little while.
It was a fun day. I slept in some because I was awake in the middle of the night. I am reading and journaling a book called The Relationship Principles of Jesus. Such a good book, it takes me a little time to do it but I am enjoying it. It will take 40 days to do it if I work on it every day. The very first principle it talks about it Place the Highest Value on Relationships. I am starting the 4th. principle tomorrow. Every principle is more than one chapter. I try to do a chapter a day.
Driving Rosie was so good. I felt like I was flying across the snow. Just wrapped in a warm blanket, pulled my had down over my ears and away we flew.Tom waxed the runners on the sleigh Christmas.
Hope you had a good day. Blessings

Donkey Hugs

Still no pictures. I am getting frustrated. Katie is coming tomorrow to see if she can help me figure it out. I have pictures of Nathaniels birthday party and Sage and our beautiful weather still just on my cameras. So, just me again today.

This afternoon Bob was trimming the donkeys feet. Yuma stand there about asleep. Chemmy wants company and then he stands. If you stand and put your arm over his neck like a hug, he turns his head around and hugs you back. We stood there hugging and Bob did all his feet. It was really funny. I talked into his long ear and we had a hugging good time while Bob trimmed his feet. Donkeys are so sweet.

I think we are going to call Emma's owner and have him come get her. I don't know what he will do with her, she is lovely to look at but no matter what we try she is anti social and just does not settle down. We have tried 6 months and Shannon had her a month and she just won't let us near her. She is going to hurt someone and I don't want it to be one of us. Have never had a horse that would not accept us at all. Wranglers mom Sandy was almost as bad but she was okay for a few days and then just explode and deliberately try to hurt us. Don't quite know what to do with Emma but she is not ours so I guess its up to her owner. Makes me sad but enough is enough. She almost hurt Bob today, it was like she had never been worked before.

Sage is doing good. Just lead her around some more. Back to the bag again maybe tomorrow. I think I am not doing it just right. If it were spring it would be easier.

Blessings

A Beautiful Day in This Neighborhood

Still have not got stuff figured out so I can do pictures. Katie said she would come tomorrow but we will not be home in the afternoon. Our great grandson Nathaniel will be turning one year old on Wednesday and his party is tomorrow. Tomorrow is a 20th birthday for grandson Bryant in Marysville. I can hardly believe that he is so.

Today I took Sage from the round pen for a long walk. Bob has plowed an area clear around our property where I can drive Rosie. The runners are narrow and need a plowed place to drive her. So, today I took Sage for a walk around the place. I got some real insight into how the wild horses survive in the wild. She lead pretty well but really crowds me. We will have to work on that issue. She stopped and dug in the snow looking for grass, she dug up some dry plants above the snow and ate them. She really did do good. We got over by the other horses and she was very inquisitive. She stood there and looked at them. She has seen them up by the barn but she was interested with them out there. I think she wanted to run and buck and romp in the snow but I don't dare turn her loose like that yet. She enjoyed it and when she got back to the round pen she let me hug her all over and I just put my face into the beautiful neck and snuggled a minute. She let me.

Rosie got her winter shoes on. If we have time tomorrow she will go for a drive, if not on Monday. This weather is incredible. Very cold but very beautiful. Last night at Turnbull Game Preserve near Cheney it was 19 below. About 10 below at our house. The sun is so bright and beautiful on the snow.

We did nothing special for New Years Day. We had a wonderful dinner last night at Wolf Lodge. The food was spectacular however pretty spendy. Never have had a steak that tender or cooked so exquisitely. Yum. Could not afford it very often but it was fun for once.

Diamonds in the Snow

No pictures - I just can't get pictures off the card. Katie I need you. It was so beautiful today. However, it was not warm, cold in fact. A 5:10 it is 15. I made we want to get outside and I did.

I spent a couple of half hours working with Sage and the plastic bag. The first time was not as fruitful although I thought it would be. Finally though I could rub from neck to hip with her just standing. THEN, I went the second time and it was better just her back. I could go clear up behind her ears and over the hips to her hock. I tried under her belly and that created her levitating. Will have to keep working on that. The thing that really sent my heart a flutter was I was rubbing her chest. I went a little too far and she saw it with her other eye and she erupted toward me. She reared up and swung at me. The thought that went through my head was I don't have my cell phone and I am going to get hurt. She was right in front of me. Like her head was taller than me and her chest was where I could have spit on it. She realized where I was and sat back and whirled and did not touch me. My heart was beating out of my chest I thought. I took a deep breath and then I went back and rubbed her chest again being mindful of not going so far toward the other side. She let me and then I left her there. I rubbed her neck and hugged her but was still shaky so she got the rest of the afternoon off. That is the first time she has really scared me like that.

We were going to drive Rosie with the sleigh today but did not get there. Bob wants to put winter shoes on her in the AM.

Last Sunday our pastor told us about a web site that will have you reading through the bible in a year and picking a verse and how it applies. It is call LifeJournal.me. I like journaling my devotional time and I am going to use this site this year.

Tomorrow and then New Years Day. Hope you have a great day, weekend and year. Blessings
