Just A Monday

An awful picture and I don't know how to remove it. It was 30 years ago (almost) at our 25th. anniversary party.
Somewhere in Montana. Bob can't remember where it was.

Ryan on his trip with Grandpa 5 years ago. That is him ambling along on Pepper. Rosie with the pack on behind either Raven or Wrangler.

Two years ago when I was in Mississippi visiting my niece, her husband and my special Caroline. She was between her junior and senior high school year there but now she is in the last semester of her first year of college.

Ezra is great, he still hasn't stopped eating, and is always glad to see us. I will try to remember to take a picture of Sage's cheek tomorrow. Its just about all healed up. It looks good.

Still no baby calf. I told Bob to quit hovering and she would have it. He worries about first calf heifers.

A Great Sunday

This was a beautiful day. Raspberry had a good time just bouncing around off and on things all over the place. She follows me to the house and wants to come in bad. No house goat though.
Ezra meeting his fellow donkeys through the fence today. He needs a hoof trimmed on his one hind foot but he is very touchy about that part of his anatomy so Bob is going to wait a while for him to settle in before he tackles it. He is eating well - constantly. He seemed glad to get outside for a while. He wants to be close to Bob though. I tried to lead him opposite where Bob was and he didn't want to go. He did but he kept looking back for Bob.

I love donkey ears. His are really long.

And his eyes on the shaggy face. He loves having his face rubbed.

Katie came over this afternoon and asked me to go for a walk with her. We had a good chat and walked. We walked about a mile - good for both of us.

I took a good nap today. I was watching the start of the NASCAR race and woke up to see who won. Felt better.

Bob is checking off and on tonight. A first calf heifer is acting like tonight is the night. Bob is concerned about her. I hope she does OK. Topper is doing well. She bounces around like a ball when she gets to playing.

Church was good this morning. Saw our special friends Greg and Lisa. Greg is our music pastor and Lisa is the sweetest person. She loves me and I love her. From the moment we met when they came to our church and she was wounded and hurting. God has done great things in their lives and he is an awesome worship leader.

So, that is our Sunday,

Blessings,

Welcome Home Ezra

A week ago yesterday, Bob took part in a huge rescue, seizure of 95 animals. One of the animals was a donkey. Everyone was taken to the fairgrounds. On Sunday, the donkey seemed not to be doing well at all, not eating, drinking and seemed very depressed. They transported him to Dr. Ponti's clinic. He was given fluids, vitamins and all they could do. They drew blood but he had no infection and his kidneys and liver were OK. Bob had called last week to check on him and asked if we could adopt him. The SCRAPS office called us today and said he had started to eat and drink a little yesterday and Dr. Ponti though maybe he needed to go to a home and have people and animals around. We went this morning and got Ezra. We had been out to see him one day and petted and loved on him. WELL, he seemed glad to see us and hopped right in the trailer and out when we got home. We put him in a stall next to Raspberry. He looked at her when we led him in. We gave him a big flake of alfalfa/grass hair and a container of some senior type feed we have that Ditto eats. I don't think he has quit eating since he got here. Not gulping it down, just a continuous little bite. And once in a while a bite of grain. I let Raspberry out when I was mucking Sage and Ditto's stalls and she went in under the gate and they shared some hay. Their noses were close and he seemed very happy to have her there. We have found he knows what treats are and sticks his nose out every time we walk by since Bob gave him the first one.

He will be in the stall until he is eating good and has put on some weight. Yuma and Chemmy better be nice to him or we will put him someplace else. He is a large donkey, almost the size of Rosie. The vet says he is in his 20's. When he walks he swings one of his hind legs funny like he has had an injury at some time. So ........ Ezra is home and he seems happy.

Blessings.

Sage had a bad mood

I thought rain or shine or snow and mud that I had to get at working with Sage. She was in a bad mood and just as determined not to. That really is an ugly look isn't it. We battled for a long time and when I got a circle each way we did a couple of other things and I left the arena. She was as determined as I and I didn't have the right boots on so I settled for and ended with right things and left it at that.
Just about healed up. I think its amazing. Hair is growing over at the ends where it is already healed. She didn't want me taking pictures of it today for some reason. Just a bad mood day I guess.

I let Raspberry out of her pen this afternoon and we walked over to Bob's shop to see what he was doing. She just walked along beside me. I did not put a lead on her. She looks so cute just ambling along with me. Love that little goat.

Brrrrr, its cold outside.

I don't know about anyone else, but I think this is an amazing picture. I took it last night as the sun was setting. It was so brilliant I did not see the moon setting also. I took it with my long lens off of our front porch.

Today Katie and I decided to walk down to Shannon's to look at her baby goats. She has over 20 babies. They are darling little creatures. The mama's found out I had horse treats in my pocket and I was mobbed. They almost ripped my pocket off. We had fun after we got there. We mad a 5 minute mini blizzard as we were walking and I thought we would freeze. By the time we came home the sun was shining.

Yesterday Katie and Cameron came over to tell us they were pregnant. I am very happy for them and they are really excited.

My brother in law got some not so good news today from the oncologist. Please continue to pray for them. I know that they really were hoping and praying for better.

More snow

This is our little girl named Topper. She was just about 14 hrs. old when I went down and took these pictures this morning. She is a cutie for sure. She is named Topper because of her little curly hat on the top of her head.

Bob did most of the horses chores today. He came in praising Sage. He said she was perfect and OF COURSE I agreed with him. If the weather would just settle down I could ride her and he would see she is perfect at that too.

New Baby

We found this baby just before dark. Maybe 10 minutes before Bob went to check on her because all the cows got out today but her. The ones out, went right back in but it made Bob wonder where she was. Mama is Martha Washington that we bought from Andi down in Oregon a while back.
Its ears are black. Mom is black, dad is half hereford and half White Park. I had never heard of that breed but Bob had.

That was our excitement for the day. No horsey news but nothing like a new baby.
