Sage had a bad mood

I thought rain or shine or snow and mud that I had to get at working with Sage. She was in a bad mood and just as determined not to. That really is an ugly look isn't it. We battled for a long time and when I got a circle each way we did a couple of other things and I left the arena. She was as determined as I and I didn't have the right boots on so I settled for and ended with right things and left it at that.
Just about healed up. I think its amazing. Hair is growing over at the ends where it is already healed. She didn't want me taking pictures of it today for some reason. Just a bad mood day I guess.

I let Raspberry out of her pen this afternoon and we walked over to Bob's shop to see what he was doing. She just walked along beside me. I did not put a lead on her. She looks so cute just ambling along with me. Love that little goat.

Brrrrr, its cold outside.

I don't know about anyone else, but I think this is an amazing picture. I took it last night as the sun was setting. It was so brilliant I did not see the moon setting also. I took it with my long lens off of our front porch.

Today Katie and I decided to walk down to Shannon's to look at her baby goats. She has over 20 babies. They are darling little creatures. The mama's found out I had horse treats in my pocket and I was mobbed. They almost ripped my pocket off. We had fun after we got there. We mad a 5 minute mini blizzard as we were walking and I thought we would freeze. By the time we came home the sun was shining.

Yesterday Katie and Cameron came over to tell us they were pregnant. I am very happy for them and they are really excited.

My brother in law got some not so good news today from the oncologist. Please continue to pray for them. I know that they really were hoping and praying for better.

More snow

This is our little girl named Topper. She was just about 14 hrs. old when I went down and took these pictures this morning. She is a cutie for sure. She is named Topper because of her little curly hat on the top of her head.

Bob did most of the horses chores today. He came in praising Sage. He said she was perfect and OF COURSE I agreed with him. If the weather would just settle down I could ride her and he would see she is perfect at that too.

New Baby

We found this baby just before dark. Maybe 10 minutes before Bob went to check on her because all the cows got out today but her. The ones out, went right back in but it made Bob wonder where she was. Mama is Martha Washington that we bought from Andi down in Oregon a while back.
Its ears are black. Mom is black, dad is half hereford and half White Park. I had never heard of that breed but Bob had.

That was our excitement for the day. No horsey news but nothing like a new baby.

Happy Day

Our daughter Chrissy and Wendy came out to visit and have dinner with us. They were solving world problems I guess while Bob was burning. Raspberry was right in the thick of things and Maggie is there too.

Sage's booboo is healing nicely. She is so good about letting us mess with it and spray it.

Raspberry having her supper.

This is the stuff we have been using on Sage. That bottle is empty. Have a new one to start tomorrow. At 30.00 a bottle it is spendy but works good. Much cheaper than a vet visit.

It was a good day. We had a little more snow. More this week. I guess we are having winter now instead of January.

Blessings.

Snow - Why now?

A view from the back door. This is the most snow at any one time all winter.

Our front storm door. From inside on the porch.

Then I opened the door and snapped this in a hurry.

Bob did not put the mares out today because I have been putting them in the arena during the day and there is no shelter. He calls them my primroses. Oh well, they are special primroses.

Yesterday Bob took part in the rescue of 75 animals from a place north of the town of Elk. It was awful, dead animals laying around and very thin animals. Horses, mini horses, donkey, llamas,

goats, calves. Bob himself hauled 2 mares and their foals and a mini mare and foal. They put that foal in the tack room. It was on the front page of the Review (our paper) and on all of the TV local channels. Bob told me I could not speak about it before hand and I didn't. There were a lot of caring people helping, bringing panels, calming animals. They were all taken to the fairgrounds for medical evaluations, treatment and feed. It was awful. That is what was in the paper and all I can talk about because if it goes to trial, he (Bob) will be called as a witness. What an awful thing to happen to those animals. I was thinking last night that how grateful the animals must have been last night to be in out of the weather and good food and good water to drink.

Blessings.

Windy Day

Bob's parents, Nellie and Wesley Williams.
Mom in her 80's. She loved me like I was one of her own from the time I was 16 years old.

Dad in his 60's in Iowa someplace. He called Bob, Wee Bob even when he was grown much to Bob's dismay.

I have posted pictures of my family often but don't think I have posted the Williams side of the family tree before. Bob's dad and my dad went to high school together and were best friends. Isn't that unique.

The wind blew up to 54 mph today. It was warm too. I went out to work in the barn. It has gotten so full of junk this winter. I cleaned stalls when I was down there. I let Raspberry out of her pen and she bounced around snooping and climbing on anything she could find. She went with me to put Ditto and Sage in. I treated Sage's cut and fed them. I was hanging up some blankets and I looked over and Sage had a mouthful of hay. She had her nose by the gate. Raspberry reached up and took the hay right out of Sage's mouth and Sage let her. They must be really good friends.

I was good to get outside. Bob bought some rabbits yesterday and he spent part of the day getting them settled. I am not too thrilled with them but he wants to sell fryers. I don't eat rabbit but I guess others do.
