Visiting and Sadness

This week has been wonderful. My sister and her husband were here from Monday evening until this morning. Just a brief time but we packed in a lot of things. I miss her so much that my heart aches. Its tough when we live so far apart and if we see each other once a year that's good. All of these pictures are from her visit. She has not been here for six years. I have been there however. Her health is not as good as mine so I was thrilled they could come.
This first picture is with our Tommy and his family. There is Sharon and Brownie in the rear and Seth holding puppy Max, Sheya, Christy, Tom and Ryan.

Then on with our tour that day we went to see Joel, Heather Lilyanna and Nathaniel. Sharon had never met Heather let alone the babies. She could not do all of those stairs so they came down and we sat on the lawn.

Our last stop before going to eat was with Chrissy, Wendy, Skylor, Jadeyn and their dog River. It was such a fun time.

Wednesday our oldest son Steve came out to do some things and spent time visiting with them. He has done such a wonderful job on our house. We are so proud of what he did.

We had a laugh at this sign outside a bar in the town of Republic. We had dinner there (in Republic not the bar.) It is a cute little town. There are deer wandering around all over the town.

Sharon and Brownie outside the store in Wauconda. That is all that is there - a store which houses a small restaurant, a small grocery area and a post office. The "town" sold on ebay recently which included the store and 5 acres for $360,000. I think the guy said the people who bought it live in Minnesota but will be coming out soon. It was a mining town.

Sharon and Brownie have a 4 1/2 year old grandson that loves John Deere tractors and sings the song about a big green tractor all the time. Sharon sent a photo like this with her telephone to him. Liam also sings the song Crazy Town. He is a dolly.

A view as we drove down to the Keller Ferry. That is the Columbia River.

Up on the Colville Indian Reservation. There were about 50 b/w pintos. This one was going to water. He looked a lot like Sage. So I took his picture (or her, I don't know)

Mama and baby up on the Rez. Sharon thought they looked like they had chicken pox. They were sure nice horses. Not all Rez horses look that good.

Just liked the looks of this. Just sitting there. I wish it could talk.
I am so sad that they had to leave today. We have committed to have more contact in person rather than just over the i/net or texting.
We found out this evening that our puppy comes tomorrow morning. We have been bringing her home for the day. Well tonight her mama would not let her nurse and ran her off so tomorrow she comes for good. Bob still has not named her.

Sunday Stills - Fire and Smoke. I had to find this in my archives. No fire around here would be allowed.
Tom and Steve came out today and mowed and weed whacked the entire yard. I hope they know how much I appreciate it. Tom has been so sick with a bad ulcer. I worry about him.

This little guy has hung in my entry since I won him a few years ago. I moved him to the enclosed front porch. It looks nice hanging there.

My new (old) kitchen is themed with roosters. I cut these guys out of some wallpaper and put them up. I don't know how long but for now I love them.
Just have a bit to do in the dining room in the morning and to change out bed and put the new sheets and bedspread on the bed. I am so anxious for my sister and bil to get here tomorrow. I know I just saw her in May but I would see her way more often if I could.
Bob got home safely. I was glad to see him and that he had a good time. Some funny things happened and they got about 35 miles of trail cleared.

I Should Listen

Rosie and Pepper as I turned them out to eat for the day. Bless their hearts. They could not even wait to get down the lane.
Last night Skeeter kept barking and I could not see anything out the windows. Bob is gone and I just thought the dogs were being silly. I should have went out to see.
When I went out the back door this morning to feed Jackie and heard something behind me as I was walking over, looked over my shoulder and who would be there but Chemmy and Yuma. NOT in their pen. I gave Jack his bucket of milk and went to see if I could find Rusty and Cody. Yep, they were on the lawn at the side of the house. I told them to go home and they trotted over and into their pen. So I got a halter, put it on Chemmy and led him in and Yuma followed. Of course its when I am here alone. They had knocked a panel that is used for a gate over. I got it back up and tied up pretty securely. Even though they were out they didn't go anywhere. They had not been out to the road thank God and the donks were looking for me. So all is secure tonight. If Skeeter and Maggie bark you can be sure that I will be going to check.
When I was a kid I had a magpie as a pet. Well actually he was the family pet. His name was ChaCha. He talked up a storm and was really a fun bird. So, I love them even though they are sometimes naughty. There were two of them playing outside the dining room window today. I am glad I try to carry my little camera around with me in my pocket.
Don't think I have posted the picture of our new garage door. Now to clear out the garage so we can use it.

Chrissy and Wendy came out to help me today. The kitchen ceiling is painted and things look so good. Just the spot over the sink that Bob needs to finish when he gets home tomorrow. I can't wait for my sister and brother in law to get here on Monday.

Errands

When I got up this morning this is what I saw. I am so glad I put a blanket in my new chair. She was so happy I got her a new bed. Oh well, she thinks she is queen of the house and I guess she is. Good ole Maggie.
Skeeter got a haircut and bath and got himself ready for company. I got my hair trimmed. She did such a good job. I did a little shopping and was going to have a pedicure but they were closed. Maybe tomorrow. The rest of the day was doing chores and getting the house ready. Two more sacks for the Salvation Army. Don't know how we accumulated so much stuff.
Back to the house. My sister and brother in law just arrived at Nikki's. Can't wait for them to get here on Monday.

A Day in August

The thunder head clouds are going to miss us. Whew. I did miss the lightening though in my picture. I went around us to central Idaho where the hail was golf ball sized.
Just worked on the house today and did chores. Talked to Sage a minute but just can't do it all in a day. Not complaining just stating how it is on Calico Acres Farm. When I went out to put Rosie in I could not find her. She was in the front yard grazing on the lawn. OOps. We have the neighbors horse in a stall and they were here cleaning the stall and left the gate open. It was OK, she was waiting for me.

Waiting and waiting

Isn't this a pretty dahlia. We were at friends over in Hayden, Idaho last night. These flowers were in her yard. We got home later than I expected so went right to bed.
I don't know what kind of lilies these are but they were so beautiful. I was going to ask her but didn't get to it and then I forgot.

Steve fixing the hole in the ceiling. Its ready to mud. I thought Bob was going to do it tonight but he got busy outside. All the holes are at least covered and the floor hole is finished, floored, mudded, textured and painted. Can not tell it was ever there. Now if the ceiling turns out as well I will be delighted.
I bought a sofa and chair yesterday and it was supposed to be delivered today. Well, it is 8:30 PM and it is not here yet. I called and it will be here before 10 PM. I am usually in bed by then. I am not too thrilled about their timing. I have waited all day. I put out old one out on the lawn and a neighbor stopped and asked if it were for sale. I gave it to him. Its wearing out and it is very dirty. He is a drunk old bachelor so I guess he doesn't care. His dog chewed up the one he has I guess. Its gone anyway.

Another Hole

Well, my sister will be here in a week and I have a massive hole in my kitchen ceiling. The leak has been driving us nuts and now its a big mess. I think Kelly of Rose Hill Farm blog and I have matching ceilings. Aren't we lucky? Yuck. I don't think I will ever get this mess all cleaned up. Boohooooooooo.
I did work with Sage quite a while. We started free lunging today and like the first time with anything not so good. I did almost lay across her from the step stool but I don't want to do that until someone is here with me. Then we went out to graze on the lawn a little and while we were there a young friend that used to be a foster kid to the couple that used to live next door. I was so glad to see her. She left under not cool circumstances and she and I spent a bit of time together so it was a good feeling for her to stop in to see me now.
The sky was really overcast all day but I find it really isn't weather, it is smoke from up in British Columbia. Hope it goes away soon, it really made it grey today.
Tomorrow I am sofa shopping. Hope I can find something I really like. For not a lot of money.
Blessings
