Hope you don't mind.

Back to meandering through past pictures. It just hurts too bad and my hand does not work well.We were camping at Larabee Corrals and Bob is bringing the horses in.
One of Andi's orphans but I don't remember which one or when

We started out at Larabee and rode 12 miles down the hill toward the Snake River. That is where we camped.

In the Burns Wild horse Corrals.

Cowboy - a young POA that we started for some people. He went well.

Someplace at Clearwater Crossing

At a horse show last April. The footing is plain old squishy wet mud.

Another picture of Star. Sage is build much like her.

Colville adoption.

I have a question. I am having a little trouble with Sage not moving. Bob always starts me out on the lead rope and the last couple of times when he unhooks the rope she won't go forward. I wiggle and kiss and cluck and bump but she just stands there. She doesn't act like she is going to bolt, she just does not move. I don't want to take her out of the round pen until she will move forward. She goes on a lunge line but without a handle on her she has decided not to move. I am puzzled.

  1. Sounds like what Scout did. It took a lot of energy to get him going. I'd ask nice, ask firmly, and then get into him with a crop or a lead with a popper. After a while he moved when I asked nice, but there was still a lot of stickyness in his forward movement until we got out of the round pen. Even the trainer who rode him had to work hard to motivate him into a lope, and he's got an energy that can get any horse moving.

  2. Thanks Andrea. I would settle for a calm walk.

  3. Hmmm, that is something. She probably is bored being in the roundpen, but still. If we asked Ray, I know he'd say, "just get those feet moving". Probably doesn't matter if it's forward, just get her feet moving. Can you try turning her in small circles both directions, and if that works, then ask for forward? Have you tried putting up a few obstacles like simple caviletti, cones, you know, just stuff she has to maneuver around and over just to make it a little more challenging, to get her thinking? This is one of those times when you have to go thru it, to get past it - right? Don't worry, you guys will get there. Those camping spots are gorgeous...would I ever like to be there!!!
Sure hope your hand issue gets resolved soon...sorry. Will say a prayer for you right now! :)
