Cooler Day

She was saying to me, I don't want to work today. I said too bad Sage. We did and she did OK but had moments when I told her she knew better. She forgot how to lead at first but we continued to work on it. I did eventually pick up both front feet for a few seconds. I was very proud of that.
The wind was still blowing some today but nothing like yesterday. We did work on lunging some. I don't do mindless going round and round until I can work on something in particular. She needed to learn to do what I asked whether she wants to or not. She is giving her rear end and stepping over both directions. She moves her front shoulders to the left stepping over pretty good but the other way, not so much. Patience Lea.

Shannon came down and helped Bob unload these 100# bales. My back just was not up to it today. She did it so Bob would go riding with her down at Riverside. She is putting her fourth ride on her young mule Davon. No going alone at this stage. I would have gone if Lane had not been here but that was more important. He and I had fun.
I worked with Emma today and then Bob worked with her. A mustang that is her age and has been coddled but never tamed is a different ball of wax. You can't treat her like a new mustang but she is wild as one when you try to touch her. Bob accomplished some things but no touch. We are aiming for her shoulder, not her head. She bolts when you get close to her at all. She will turn and give you both eyes and let you get about 3' from her and then away she goes. I will try tomorrow again. Bob has to work.
Our bedroom floor is about done. Yahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh00000000000000. Now I am emptying out closet. I did not know we had so much stuff. STUFF. Better get back to it.
Blessings

  1. I love reading about your slow and careful work with your horses - it's very inspiring.
