Rusty and her crow hop at the cinching up of the surcingle. She objected but just crow hopped about 3 jumps and then stood there. Bob worked her a while and then she just stood there. He pulled on it, tightened it up a little and she just stood there. He took the long line off and chased her around a few laps each way and then on the line for a while and then put her away with the surcingle still on. He left it on for a while. tomorrow he will put a saddle pad under it. We will see how she does then. Much better than yesterday.Just a day of cleaning house and unpacking etc. Maybe tomorrow I will be able to get out and do somethings. Bob went to the stockyards today to see how prices were. No selling our steers yet anyway. We do so much better selling them butchered as meat. We have 2 going to freezer camp this week sometime.
I didn't know you guys sell beef. Do you sell it to people privately? I've always wanted to get 1/2 a cow or 1/4 a cow. I'm not really sure how that works.
ReplyDeleteYes we do. We will have more in about 2 months. We just sold the last quarter yesterday. We either sell a whole, half or quarter. All our beef is raised from their moms, no processed food, just straight from the mill in Davenport, no heavy graining to make them excessively fat. They eat grass, and alfalfa/grass hay for the most part. Let me know if you are interested.
