Wednesday

I think I could have slept all day. Don't know why. I was lazy all day. I am so glad that Bob understands that I have days like this once in a while and lets me be lazy.

I did sew on the Christmas gifts for our grand kids. At least the younger ones. It doesn't take long but it does take me to sit down and do it. Not telling what because at least one mama reads this and I want everyone to be surprised. I am making all I can this year.

Poor Rusty still does not like the surcingle. She tolerates it on but does not want a saddle pad. Bob did not push it today, just the surcingle. No bucking, just looking like "I don't like it" We just will have to keep working with her. She still does like me too much.

Friday we are going to Rathdrum to help Jenn with her mustang Riley. She has had him for 6 months and can not touch him. I am a little discouraged with the amount of people telling her to give up and send him back. Bob and I will give her some help and be honest with her. I just hate people telling her to give up without ever seeing her or her mustang or how they communicate together.

My lazy day is catching up with me. It will be early to bed for me. Maybe a cup of hot cider and a good good for a while too.

  1. That's so great that you guys are going to go help her. You'll be able to tell a lot and give her some direction. I think all horses are capable of being handled under the right circumstances--you'll be able to make that happen for her, I'm sure.

Sometimes you've just got to be lazy! :):) I didn't accomplish much today either.

Hey Lea--we're going to start Cowgirl Coffees pretty soon--maybe after Thanksgiving--Wednesday mornings at Chaps--you should come. We did a lot of them last year through winter.

  2. Glad you'll be heading over to help Jenn.

Give Rusty a kiss for me and tell her I love her.

  3. Hi Lea, Thank you for your thoughts yesterday. I think Cowboy would have called the GW if they had come back that afternoon with something in tow. Just glad to have it behind us, and like Cowboy says, he can't miss what he never had to begin with.
Good luck with Rusty! We adopted one years ago. Java. An Arab stallion and her hussy ways produced a wonderful filly we had SPAYED (read your other posts). A gal in Colfax still has her..gathered family cattle in Okanogan Co. and barrel races. Tough little thing and she's 17 yrs now. Java went on to friends in ID where she packed bear out of the forests and grandkids in the pastures.
Mustangs are awesome. Time, patience, love and respect makes the milestones less bumpy.

  5. Here's a blip I found on the internet about Chaps with the address--it's over where the old Tidymans was on 195--on the Cheney Spokane Rd. (In the Tidyman parking lot off to the right.) We'll probably start them up after Thanksgiving--so Dec. 3 around 9:30 am.

Dreams do come true! Welcome to Chaps, first conceived when I was a little cowgirl in Montana, where I was nurtured, encouraged and championed by my two loving grandparents. They remain very much alive today within the décor, the food and hopefully, the warmth I remember so vividly. I designed, built and furnished the café with materials, art and objects from my family’s homestead in order to evoke special meaning and memories. I am proud to serve you in the same aprons my grandmother wore while caring for her own family. I hope your time at Chaps brings as much pleasure to you as I am having in sharing it! We are open 7:30am-3pm Tues.-Sun. and are also open 5-11pm Thurs. (seasonally).

  6. Thanks Linda. That is super, remind me though. I will write it on my calendar. As soon as you told me where it was, I remembered. You know old brains sometimes.
