October 1998 to December 2008
Today my sweet Sophie ran under the wheels of Bob's truck. He heard her and ran and picked her up and she died in his arms. We are devastated. She has slept with us on our bed every night since she was 8 weeks old. Bob is hurting and I am still crying. Maybe tomorrow will be better.
Lea, I am so sorry. How terrible. There's not much one can say to comfort another when they've lost such a long time friend.
ReplyDeleteGood bye Sweet Sophie, rest easy old friend.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry that you lost such a sweet member of your family! I'll be thinking of you.
ReplyDeleteYou have so many sweet memories of her.. Try to think of those..I feel so sad for you
ReplyDeleteJust this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
ReplyDeleteWhen an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. Her bright eyes are intent. Her eager body quivers. Suddenly she begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, her legs carrying her faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Lea I am so sad for you. I barely knew her but my eyes are full of tears for you as I write this! Such a shock and such a loss.
ReplyDeleteWrite about her and post it. Tell everyone her story and print it out and save it. I have done that several times for my animals I lost and it helps. You cry a lot but it is a healing process. Poor Bob, my thoughts are with you both dear ones.
Love, Joy
Thank you all. I could not have made it without your thoughts and prayers. We are OK today, not over it but we have to be. Bob is doing OK. He said he told God last night to rub her behind her ears because she likes that best. then we both cried again but its better. Just time. Joy, I will do that. Write out her story. We have lots of sweet/funny thoughts and memories of her. I want to get them down before I forget them. Thanks again friends.
