A beautiful day in the neighborhood

I had to enlist Bob's help to get Sage going. She was not going to the right no matter what I did. She just was not cooperating at all so Bob asked if he could help and of course I said yes. He had a little fight with her but got her going both ways all right. Then I took back over and she went for me. I worked her both way of the pen and got her to woe for me and look at me. Then I groomed her as good as I could with all the mud balls on her. They are coming off though. When I had done that and even brushed her face. She seemed to really like that. We played with the ball. I would roll it and she would follow it. That was progress I am telling you - progress.

Sheya and I on a ride. I ponied her for a couple of reasons. One, she had not ridden any where but the arena and around here by herself. Second, I could not find her bridle. I knew it was in the tack room, not her bridle necessarily but a snaffle bit bridle. I did not trust her hands to put more on Rosie but could not find one except Katie's so I just ponied her. It worked and we rode a couple of miles and had a blast.

So besides the sunshine and nice day we had a most blessed time with our grandchildren. Some really wanted to help with the chores some didn't but that's OK. It was a great time. They are all in at Tom's house tonight because we have a horse thing in the morning and have to leave at 6:30 AM. Not a fun thing for them to do so we let them go. Sunday we will take Lane and Isaac to Wenatchee to meet up with their mother.

A lost tooth and more burritos

Every time Isaac comes to stay with us he loses a tooth. The tooth fairy forgot to come last night though, hope he remembers tonight. He had to call his mom to tell her "I lost a tooth".

Today I finished 90 breakfast burritos. I hope some are left over so we have some on hand but I really don't expect there to be. I can roll one up pretty fast with experience.

Sheya wanted to ride today really bad so Bob led her around on Pepper. Tomorrow is supposed to be nice and I will ride him and pony Rosie until she gets used to riding alone again. She is nine and has been riding alone since she was 6 but has not rode for quite a while so I think that's safer. She was having a hard time getting on....................

but she made it.

Sage had an absolute tantrum when Bob took Pepper out of his pen and she thought he was going to get fed and she was missing out. Bob is going to pony her soon when we have a nice day and the arena area is dried up enough to ride in.

Had a Northeast Zone of Washington State Horsemen this evening. It was a good meeting.

And we had dinner. I try to avoid places like that because I always eat too much. Good food though.

Overflowing with grandchildren

Our snowflake appaloosa. Actually its Pepper, we didn't get him in before the storm hit.

The house is full of boys and one little blue eyed girl. She is a tomboy though so no fear. They are down playing in the barn. Lane is beside himself to have his cousins here. The sky before it opened up.

I am doing a Photo Challenge on Facebook and today was something I would like to change. This is my picture - the weather. Hate this for the kids spring break. Its awful.

Today I made 55 breakfast burritos. Have 35 more to do. We need 90 on Saturday morning at our Back Country Horsemen Tune Up Clinic. We sell them for $1.00 for a burrito and a cup of orange juice. I have never made them before but the person who does told me how. They are going in the freezer for now. Quite an undertaking.

A storm of lightening and thunder is coming by so off goes the computer. Blessings to you all.

Spring break - bad weather

My "Christmas" Cactus is blooming. It started to season appropriate but for some reason all the buds fell off. Now its blooming. Lane and Isaac this morning taking hay to the cows. They had a good time. They thought they were pretty big stuff.

Lane had a stuffed animal wolf with him. Pistol thought it might be real. It cracked us up.

I got groceries today and nothing else outside the house. Had a great time with the boys when they were in the house. There most fun thing is hunting eggs. We are having an Easter Egg hunt every days. They lay their eggs all over the place.

Tomorrow will be a busier day because 3 more grandkids are coming to add to the mix for a couple of days. That will be quite a group 4 boys and 1 girl between 13 and 6. Whoo.

Kids Water and Roasting Marshmallows

A couple of grandsons and a friend of Nikki's boys. They set the marshmallows on fire. All wanted to know where the graham crackers and chocolate was. Guess I flopped as a Grandma on that score. Only marshmallows. Notice the stick in the ground beside Lane - the one sitting. His sock is drying. He thought he was so clever. All it did was get more dirty though. They had fun.

We fed the chickens left over noodles from the spaghetti. They thought they were worms and fought over them. We all had a good laugh at them.

An old man swinging up in a youth saddle on Pepper. We had a good laugh. He made it though and he and Pepper made a few tours around.

Just one of the six or seven that got rides. Nikki's friend Anita and her third son Dru. He is always so serious. He thought it was fun. He is four and just started playing T Ball. I asked him if he liked it and he said yes and I asked him if he was good at it and he thought a second and said almost. I wanted to crack up.

Two great granddaughters. Arawyn is actually that but her sister Cambria claims us too. Cambria was a little afraid on Pepper but she told her Papa Great that it was fun and she was glad she had done it. Sweet little girls. I am always glad when Cambria gets included.

I didn't get to work Sage but she was a character when they were riding out there around her pen. She was very curious. When we all went away she had a buck around in her pen. She loves attention and she watched the goings on with big soft eyes and her ears perked foreward.

Katie's Abby decided she didn't like the paddock they are in and went through the fence. Then when we fed she went through it again and galloped up to the feeder. She is good at ignoring fences. Oh Bob was not happy with her.

We got word this evening that Bob's brother is doing wonderful and is coming home on Wednesday with a lot of restrictions. Hope he pays attention to them.

Tra la la Tra la -Spring today

I should have had Bob take pictures but I didn't. I spent a quite a long time working with Sage. This time I had a 12 foot rope, gloves and a lunge whip. She did her buck around but I used Karen's advice and made her keep moving. Because, she was doing the big buck thing and then stop and look at me. Well, did that get to you look on her face. So me and the whip, now I did not hit her with it, kept her going until she was walking relaxed both ways around me. I did a lot of petting in between and rubbing and she wanted a treat and when we were done I took her out on a walk about and let her eat the green grass that is sprouting. She nosed around and snorted but didn't do her hoochy coochy dance when something made her nervous. She even went back to the pen and was relaxed. Now I want to do a happy dance. I was so discouraged after the other day. Won't be home tomorrow but Sunday I hope to do some more of the same and add some things. I am proud of her and of me.

It was a lovely day in this neighborhood. Things are beginning to dry some but rain is predicted tonight and tomorrow. We will see, not downpours like we have had though. We ordered the stuff for the footing in our stalls today as soon as the truck can get in. The would sink to their axle now. We have to get them cleaned clear down to the dirt and smooth and start looking for mats to go over the stuff Bob ordered. I don't know what its called. Really fine gravel, almost sand but not.

Nikki and her younger two boys are on their way over. They will be here in about an hour. She is coming with a friend and her boys and staying in a motel. It makes me sad they won't be here but that's the way it is when your kids grow up. We will see them and the little boys will stay with us next week. It will be fun. Lane is 12 and Isaac is 6.

I have to go to Ellensburg to a Washington State Horsemen meeting tomorrow. Its a 3 hour drive over and the same back. I enjoy that organization. Don't like that drive though.

Mustang and Burro Club Meeting

Our Inland Empire Mustang and Burro Club. The second from the left is Alexa and we celebrated her 18th. birthday with a song and a cake this evening. We are proud of her. We had a good meeting tonight.

There was no basketball game for Ryan today. He woke up in the night very sick. I am so sorry Ryan, this was his last game. He will be going to high school next year. (I can't believe it but its true).

No rain again and lots of wind. It is drying places out that were just mud. And the water level has gone down a couple of inches. Oh, I am so grateful.
