COWS!

This is what happens to ones forehead when you are one side of a pipe panel trying to make the cow move and she hits the panel when ones forehead is close. Nothing to stitch but I do have a concussion and my head is sore. I will survive. But it hurt like bloody thunder and lots of blood. I did have a CT scan and the doctor said it was a sure thing - I had a brain. LOL

Bob was driving his route yesterday and this house is where he picks up one of the packets and he saw these Grossbeaks at the feeder. Aren't they pretty.

My horse activities got curtailed today when I was helping with getting the cows into the chute to be branded, shots, and wormed. One got done, that was the end for today. He told me I was fired. LOL.

Most of the rest of the day was spent in the ER. It scared Bob worse than me. I did not like all the blood and the pain but I knew I was OK. So that is my exciting day. Whoopie.

Sunny Day

I will try this again. I have tried to get these up loaded and published three times now. I don't know why the computer has such a problem with me at the helm. Our grandson Robby and his daughter - our great granddaughter Kiyanna May Williams. She is sixteen months old. They live out of town so we have only seen her once before.

Kiyanna. She is going to have a baby sister in October. Tabby and Robby are going to have their hands full. Tabby and Robby are young but they are doing well.

Our grand daughter Coreen Louise Williams graduated from high school on Saturday morning. We are all so proud of her. She is our late son's daughter and Scott would be so proud of her. Robby is Scott's son and Kiyanna is his first grandchild. I know he is looking down from heaven just bursting his buttons. Coreen had a terrible time getting thru high school and we are so proud of her for sticking with it and graduating. She left yesterday to move to Auburn with her half sister Emily. Emily seems to be pretty stable so I hope it will be a good move for Coreen.

Grandpa and Coreen. I don't know why neither of them was smiling. We are really proud of you Reenie.
I did not get to go and it was a difficult decision but everyone understood. A good friend of mine that is also a Horse Show Steward had a family emergency and she called me Thursday AM and needed me to work for her. Her husband had to have emergency bladder surgery for a blockage and it sounded pretty serious. I just could not tell her no. I had a good weekend and made some money to compensate.
Maybe tomorrow I will get back to the Mustang portion of my blog. Until then..........
Blessings

A Day Without Rain

I hope no one is offended by these two pictures. They are for my family to see in particular.. We took flowers to both our son and daughters graves. Our family that lives away does not get to take flowers very often.
It does not seem like seven years but it has been. His daughter graduates from high school on Saturday. He would have been so happy.

We gathered up the kittens and brought them to the house so we could tame them and get them ready to go to new homes. They are so cute. This little guy climbed up the door of the crate and then did not know how to get down.
The sun was out today and I tried to work outside. Shannon helped me make a chicken waterer that holds quite a bit of water. Bob will be surprised. I fed Jack three times. He is the bucket calf baby. He thinks I am his mother. This evening I put the cow in with Snickers and Joe and they drank her dry. Got all my tomatoes planted. The pepper plants in the ground and some other things I had to plant. I have one whole bed of just different kinds of tomatoes. I can't wait. I love fresh tomatoes. In the space at the end I am going to try lavender one more time. I can kill it better than most.
Sage was a little more receptive today. Little is the key word. At least she didn't try to bite me. Bob got about a third of the round pen done so it won't be long until I can put her in there and work her hiney off. We have the other mare to work too. She is vital to get a handle on. I don't know when I have seen a horse with worse feet. Made me sick.
Bob is late tonight, I am stuffed with cherries, the Mariners are winning and I am really tired. Almost have the bedroom clear. I can't move the rest of it on my own. Only have a month to get it all done.
Blessings

Rain

This is my last series of pictures of my trip. I had a glorious time with family. I had not seen Suzy, Lindsey and Caroline in a long time. My time in Mississippi was so much fun. I had never been there before. It is beautiful and so green. The Delta country is a state all its own. So many people living in so much poverty.
Then to Tennessee and my sister and the rest of her family. I miss them all. I am so thankful that Sharon and Brownie will be coming this way. My sister looked so much better than a year ago. That was a relief.
Now to these pictures. Liam arranging Whammommys flower bed. I took her the welcome sign and he had to decide if that was the best place for it.
We took a walk and it was so nice other than Liam got terrified by a big bee and hid behind me screaming until I thought my ear drums would explode. And everyone but me got ticks on them. UUUUUUUUUUUUUuuu. I could feel them crawling though.

Ms Penny going for a dip in the pond. It was so warm that day I didn't blame her.

Sharon and I in Bell Buckle. It is a cute little town. Sharon and I, Tina and Jimmy spent the better part of a day there shopping. So many fun stores and a diner that has scrumptious food.

An old barn we found when we went down the wrong road.

Too Sweet's favorite place to hang out.

On Sunday we went for a drive up to Monteagle, TN. Liam in front the the huge cross on the grounds of the University of the South at Sewanee. The rocks were hot and he did not sit there long.

The cross with the sun behind it.

Papa and Liam having a discussion.

The cross from the other side. It is a beautiful place.

Down a ways from Sewanee is a place called The Assembly. Lots of old mostly summer homes. It is a gated community although the gates were open. Its like a condo. They pay a fee to live there although they own the houses. This bridge is across a couple of little low spots.

Too Sweet loves the water and wears her life jacket faithfully. She has a float that she jumps on and rides around too.

The old post office in Normandy. It is hardly used any more but that is the town my sister is listed as living although they are quite close to Tullahoma.

Sharon and Brownie at Cracker Barrell. I love eating there. Its a great place. Wish we had them here.

My mothers grave. I took flowers. Love all the angels they have placed around it. Wish we could do things like that where our children are buried. I glued a little sheep to Coreen's headstone but its gone.

The End.
Just before we started our descent into Spokane.
Lots of pictures, lots of fun and lots of glad to be home.
Blessings

Can You Believe It's June?

The last of Mississippi. This is where I spent part of the birthday. In Tupalo, Mississippi at the birthplace of Elvis Presley. I have not ever been to Graceland where he lived but he was born in this very house. I sat in the swing on the front porch.
Don't know who was sitting there when I took that picture. It is what is known as a shotgun house. The front door and back door are straight from each other.

A statue of Elvis at 13. His mother bought him his guitar that year I believe. He wanted a gun but she bought him a guitar. He learned to play it on his own.

This is the little church that he first sang in. It was moved on to these grounds because the land it was on was sold for commercial use. It is a cute little Assembly of God church.

This is the memorial chapel in the museum. It looked and smelled like a funeral parlor. Not my favorite place there.

Good by Mississippi. I had a wonderful time.
This is crossing the Tennessee River at sunset. We had been through a corner of Alabama and then into Tennessee. We were on the Natchez Trace.

I went to walk down closer to the river to take a picture and realized a guy was camped down there. I didn't go any further. It was so beautiful there.

This is Penny. She is about 11 and guards there entire neighborhood. She is a good old girl. She always acts like she remembers me from one visit to the next.

My niece Tina and her angel Jimmy. He is 6. Jimmy has Ceberal Palsey. He is a sweet loving little boy and a funny sense of humor. He is getting more verbal all the time and its wonderful to hear him talk. One or two words at a time. You never quite know what he will say.

He was telling me HUG Hug so I was hugging that sweet little boy. Don't know how I got two of these so just pretend the next one isn't there.

Spike is the cat of the family. He loves Sharon, hates Brownie. Its funny.

Tina's older son Riley. He is a real character. He loves us and calls Bob Uncle Bobby. We all laugh our heads off except Bob. But that's OK. And he loves my dog Skeeter. He wanted them to both come with me.

And this is Liam. He has more energy than the entire family put together. Sharon's grandchildren have all picked out their names for me. Caroline calls me Grammy. She started that when she was 3 and still calls me that. Liam calls me AnnaLea. Loved it. The flowers were for his Whammommy which is what he calls hims Grandma. Aren't kids funny?

This pond is down the lane from Sharon's house. Penny loves to swim in it. Sharon, Liam, his mama Kat and I took a walk around it. Everyone got ticks on them but me. I was combing my hair and itching just thinking about what might be on me.
I am so disappointed in my progress with Sage. She is needing me to almost start from the beginning. I touched her shoulder today after rubbing her with the stick and she swung her head around with her mouth open. I kept the stick between me and her head but it scared me a little. Bob is working on the round pen so I can get her going. The little pen is good for gentling but not good for really working. At least not for me.
The remaining two of the four we bought and were sick are doing great. One is sharing Candy with Snickers and the other is going to be a bottle baby. Well a bucket actually. His name is Jack and the other is Joe.
Life is busy here on Calico Acres Farm.
Blessings

Memorial Day

This is Memorial Day. My pictures are still of Mississippi. I think tomorrows are the end of these pictures. Then, comes Tennessee.
Cricket running in the pasture. Sure is a mustang isn't she. I just love her alot.

Isn't that a mustang post though. She is such a character.
Maybe I will just eat a while. I could have sat there and took pictures all day I think. I miss her but know she is right where she is supposed to be. She and Carrie have a very special bond. I love that. You know mustangs pick their people and she picked Caroline.

Now Caroline is on Baby Dash practicing barrels. She flies. I thought I uploaded another picture but it is not here. It was just more flying around.

Caroline and I on the balcony of a bookstore in Oxford, MS. She was about tired of having her picture taken.

Carrie and her mom Suzy. She had had it with the camera. I told her I was going to plaster her face all over the Internet.

Another Carrie in the bookstore.

This little poster was on the wall of the ladies room. I want it but no one knows how to get the poster. I got a copy off the Internet of the writing but I wanted that with her picture on it. Her name is Nadine Stair. She is 85 years old or so.

This is Ole Miss where Caroline is going to college in a year. I believe she has already been accepted. Its a beautiful campus.

Just liked that. Caroline is a dancer not a band girl. I do believe she plays the flute but that is not her priority right now.
I do hope you are not completely bored with my pictures yet. Am just hitting the high spots.
We had a really good day today. We went into Big R this morning and got some horse stuff because they had a wonderful sale today. We went to Walmart and got some stuff and 12 tomato plants, 2 pepper plants and a lemon balm plant. I don't know what you use it for but love the smell of the leaves. Now I have to go back and get tomato cages. I only have one.
Hope your weekend was wonderful. I am so thankful to have born in this wonderful country. We hear the phrase "Freedom isn't free" and I am so grateful to the families who have sacrificed so much so we can be free.
Blessings.
