Six Mustangs

On the Sixth Day of Christmas I bring you six Mustangs eating.

From the left - Amelia-the sorrel with a blaze, Wrangler the buckskin and is about a whole hand taller than the rest, Abby who is Katie's, Raven that is a real sweetheart, Liberty who wants a forever person of her own, and the bottom picture is Pepper that is the love of all of us.

I fed the kitties and Red the hen came to eat with them. She won't stay in the chicken pen. She hides out in the barn.

Bob left to go deliver the meat to western Washington this morning. It is all safely with the people who ordered it. The road was bare and dry all the way even over the pass. He will go down to see his brother for a little while in the morning and then come home. I pray the weather will hold. By evening we are supposed to get freezing rain. Hate that stuff. Later this week and next week it is going to warm up and they predict rain. On top of 24 inches of snow will be a big awful mess.

I took Sage for a little walk around this morning and she did just fine. She did not understand why she didn't just go to her daytime pen but came with me. Her black parts are shiny black now. Even the woolly hair. Rosie lays down and rolls as soon as you put her out but I have never seen Sage roll. I picked Emma's rope up and she will lead and follow but heaven forbid that you should walk towards her. I hate to send her home because he said he would just put her down if we couldn't get her good and gentle. Cash went to his new home yesterday afternoon. He is a real sweetie and I expect that Byran will be riding home soon.

The chores in the morning will be more challenging. I will have to carry hot water to the chickens and the goat. Oh well. I CAN do it.

Four and Five

Yesterday was Day 4 and I brought you, although I did not get it posted, 4 Hershey Hugs.

And yes, after I took their picture, I ate them. Love the Hugs.
Day 4 I bring you 5 Hummingbird Ornaments. I will put them in the decorations when I get them up.

This was my biggest shock of my weekend, of a long time I guess. Saturday at noon the Northeast Zone of Washington State Horsemen had their annual awards. This year it was a luncheon. I was responsible for a very few things and had just finished my luncheon and was listening so of half eared to the awards they were giving . When they were giving the last of the awards I was getting ready to gather my stuff and they called my name. I was astounded. I am so grateful and proud. Wow, the member of the year. I want to carry it around with me but that might look like I was bragging and I really am not, just proud that my colleges thought enough to honor me in that way.

We went to Walmart to get dog food and this car was parked in front of us. I don't know how they make the bells stay there.

Sage going out the other barn door. She was a little snorty with Bob but didn't hesitate at all. I am going to take her for a little walk around tomorrow.

On the 3rd. Day............Lighthouses

On the Third Day of Christmas

I bring you 3 lighthouses. I used to collect them. Remember the old Hymn - I thank God for the Lighthouse, I owe my life to Him.

Got my sewing machine out so I can finish some things I have started. Nothing like my friend Marlene at Stitching By The Lake but some things I have been fiddling with. Bob will be gone Monday and Tuesday and maybe Wednesday so I can sew to my heart content. Tomorrow will be a busy day so won't get much done at all however, Sunday I will get back to it.

Tomorrow Bob is going to a funeral down in Rosalia. Mary Lee Tollett was the mother of my roommate in college and my maid of honor when we got married. Patty died a year ago of bone cancer. Mary Lee played mom to me when I would go home for weekends from WSU. She always welcomed me. She was in her late 80's.

I have a luncheon, awards dinner for the past horse show season. I did not show but I do stuff for the year end awards. Like shopping for crystal items on a budget. I have found the best place is Penny's. I also sponsor a sportsmanship award and I get to award it. Then in the early evening Bob and I have the Panhandle Back Country Horsemen Christmas party and dinner. So by the time we get home we will be tired.

Today when I put Sage out, I took her out the other barn door. I had to lead her full length of the barn and out the other end. There is a lot of stuff in there. I didn't know what she would think but she came right with. Got a little snorty but didn't bolt or anything. Then I put her in that way. She was still a little snorty but went right to her stall.

Haugen went to his new home today. I would not want to pull a horse trailer on our rode but Tony did not seem to mind. Haugen did not want to get caught too bad but once he had a halter on he just led right out and into the trailer. That made me feel so good. And Cash's new owner came over and petted on him and wormed him. He is leery of pulling his trailer so Cash may be here for a while. That is OK. I thought he might get a little upset when Haugen left. He whinnied once and I gave him some oats and that kept him occupied for a bit. Nothing more the rest of the day.

Cold and foggy here. I don't like fog too much but don't mind the cold so bad. Our low tonight is to be about 19.

The Second Day..........................

On the Second Day Of Christmas I bring you

Two black and white buddies perusing the snowy outdoors.

Something happened today that will make you all laugh. At the beginning, Bob usually unlocks the front door when he goes after the paper for me in the morning. In the middle of the day I looked out and Maggie - our big dog - was playing in the middle of the road with the dog from next door. I went out on the front porch in my stocking feet, closed the front door to open the storm door on the far outside door to yell at Maggie and Mick to get out of the road, for Maggie to come home and Mick to go home. She came and I let her in and when I tried to get into the house, guess what. The door was locked. It was cold out there. Thank goodness I had my cell phone in my pocket and I could call Bob who was at the neighbors plowing them out. He is still laughing at me.

Sage is turning into quite a lady. Tomorrow we are going to walk around a bit where Bob has plowed a little bit more. I told her I had not deserted her. She just walks beside me like she has been doing it all her life.

I was going to hitch Rosie up to my sleigh today also but they plowed the road down to the pavement so all I could go was just around the house. We will have more snow. I need to wax the runners.

So besides wrapping the gifts for Bob to take with him Monday when he goes to Nikki's to deliver meat I just did everyday kind of stuff today.

On The First Day of Christmas

For the last 2 or three years starting on the first of December I do the 12 days of Christmas - my version. I know it was a song with religious meanings but mine is just for fun and I don't mean to insult anyone.

SO, on the First Day of Christmas I give you ONE welcome sign.

A little drizzle on our snow but now its snowing again. Got quite a bit accomplished today and a little nap besides.

It has snowed pretty much all afternoon. I don't know how much has come down. I am so thankful for the tractor and snowplow. And more thankful that Bob can do it.

Rosie is now sharing the barn with Sage. Bob cleaned the stalls good today. I can hardly do it anymore. My shoulder will not do it. Amelia does not want to come in and she beats up on Rosie as do the other horses so we just showed them, she comes in at night. We tried putting them in the round pen together but Sage was upset with it so Rosie went to another pen.

I will be glad when the two mustangs we rescues can go to their new homes. They could go now but no one wants to pull a horse trailer on these roads. Both of them will go down roads that are not taken too well care of. Bob could ride Cash over but its about 12 miles and I would rather he didn't.

Am watching Gonzaga Basket Ball. Love those boys. They are tromping Eastern Washington bad. Maybe I will go work on Christmas card.
