A good Friday

Part of our cow family after they came up for water. Lizzy and her baby Rita did not come up. Yesterday Bob went to see if Rita was OK and she was asleep in some tall grass. Bob reached down and touched her and she opened her eyes and went MAWWWW, loudly. Bob jumped back and Lizzy came on the run. It was really funny. Still one cow to have her calf. I hope it is soon. We need to get them to their summer pasture and to a bull who will join them on their pasture.

Maro having his supper and Bob trying to get a little milk in the bottle so he can get some medicine down Marco. It did not work. It had yesterday and this morning but he said no more. I want my new mama. So we got the turkey baster out and got it down him that way. That worked ever so much better. We have about 4 more doses so that is how we will do it.

A little bird. Not a very good picture but it was so sweet sitting there.

Worked with Rocky for a while. He is such an awesome pony. Then I got Sage out and let her mow part of the lawn and I reintroduced her to the trailer. She did not get in but looked and sniffed. Bob had hauled a horse home from the vet for a gal and Sage could smell something different.

The weather is supposed to turn really awful tomorrow. If we get the hail they are predicting, we will be putting some of the horses, particularly the ponies in the barn. Will be watching the weather.

Blessings.

Another new baby

Don't know if its he or she yet. This was her first time up. A cute little critter
About 7 hrs. later. Still don't know but mom is very protective.

Amelia eating her fill. She is getting her weight back and is all shed out pretty.

Wrangler looks kind of pathetic. He is shedding out OK but that tail is awful.

Abby is my least favorite horse. She knocked me over tonight running by me to get back out in the pasture while I was shutting the gate. I went and got a lounge whip and went after her. She ran fast back out the gate but I am really mad at her.

Raven munching away.

We finished Sages front feet and are working on picking up the hind ones. They are in terrible condition and its important for us to get them done. She took a pretty good pop at Bob but missed him. She got a pretty good pop on her hip by him too. Then we went right back at it. We did finally get one picked up but that was all of the lesson today.

We both spent time with Emma too. She just is not happy when I give her a direction. She looked pretty aggressively at me. Bob went in and she was fine. We will keep working on that.

It was 70 today and that is the first time this year. I really enjoyed it. We worked at cleaning up the yard some and layed around some.

Great Day

No pictures. Can't take them and do what I need to do. I worked with both ponies today and saddled Sage again. Flapped the stirrups against her. She does not get upset about any of that. Then she spooks at stupid things like a piece of string the wind catches. I know she will get over it though.

We trimmed more on her front feet today. Got them down where they should be. Now to tackle her hind feet. I got one foot picked up today. One of these days I will be one her.

Tomorrow we have to work on Stella's feet. They look good but both front feet at cracked and she has knocked a chunk out of one rear foot. Bob may have to get some of the stuff they use to seal up cracks with until they can grow out.

It was a lovely day here - almost 70 degrees. Loved it. I did go and get my hair trimmed up a little shorter but am not crazy about it. Its the length I wanted but not really the shape. I hate it when there is someone I like and then they leave. Oh well, such is life.

Progress and the joke is on Bob

My wonderful Sage. She gets sweeter every day
I dropped the apple I had for Sage and the hens and Napoleon bombarded me.

So she didn't get her apple half

AND THIS IS OUR PROGRESS. Isn't it wonderful.

She could have cared less. I had it cinched up tight enough to get on her. In fact, I thought about it for a brief second. She was so relaxed I know she would have not done anything but I know I am not agile enough to jump if I needed too. I was SO PROUD of her. I let her stand there for a while and then I took her over to the lawn and to go back eating. That is what she was more concerned about. Wahooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

This is Marco. He is going to be the second calf on Candy and that is the joke on Bob. He just thought her calf was Otis. Bob told me he was a he. BUT when he went to give the calf his baby shot, guess what HER name is Jazzy, not Otis. We are still laughing. So we don't have an Otis, we have a Jazzy. LOL

Bob turned those four out onto grass this evening and they had to run and buck

and then settle down to eat.

Who knows what will happen with Sage next?

I am back among the living

I have been really sick with a souper douper sinus infection. I did not get up for 3 days. Today I felt like taking a shower and getting dressed. Bob asked me if I fell well enough to go out for a while and we went for a ride around our area on the back roads. These are a lot of pictures. I was so happy to be out in the fresh air and moving around.
This is the metropolis of Canby. I did not know we had one of those in Washington.

This is in Blueleaf. Didn't know we had one of those either.

Not too thriving I would say.

I just loved this picture.

This old mule had lots of food in his pasture. We think he is just old. He looked old anyway.

This donkey was pretty good sized. He was an intact Jack running with a pasture with several mares. You know I have a soft place for donks.

This is the Columbia River. They have drawn the river way down so when the snow melt hits there it won't flood. Last year there was a slide across the river that caused some damage.

She was waiting to cross the road.

And we had dinner at the Red Rooster Cafe in Reardan. It has been closed for a while. It was good food and we had a good day.

Missed you all

Happy Mothers day to all the moms, aunts, grandmas and anyone who has held, comforted or loved a child,

Blessings

Ups and Downs

Rocky. Isn't he a doll. I am going to enter him in a horse show in June. Stella is doing well too. We wormed them today. I should have groomed them but just didn't feel up to it. Don't know if this is a cold or allergies.
Our lake is almost gone, and now the mud needs to dry out.

My precious old Ditto. She is 31 this month. She was bucking around their field the other day and I told her I might want to ride her if she kept that up. Love her so much. Have had her for 29 years.

Otis and Patrick.

We got word today that our dear friend Joe Mertens died last Friday. I feel so bad that no one let us know before now. He and his dear wife Elaine have been good friends for the last 35 years. RIP dear friend, we love you.

That is all for today.

Blessings.

We beat the rain

This is who we woke up to this morning. His name is Otis and he is healthy and as good as can be. We need to find another calf for his mom. She always raises two or three.

He looks small next to Patrick and Brady but he isn't really. We ran them off because they were tryng to play with him and he wasn't old enough to play yet. Maybe tomorrow.

Sage got let loose in the arena today. She was so happy to be loose but I put her in when we left to go for a ride.

My one daffodil perked up. Isn't it pretty>

On our trail ride close by at a state park that's about 15 minutes away. I guess its a state park or a water fowl preserve. These Johnny Jump Ups were all over the place and so pretty.

I never can remember what these are called but they always look so pretty every spring.

A pretty little inlet on the lake.

Bob

Katie

On our way back from up on a high against the hill.

The Birch trees looked so pretty over against the hill.

A pair of mallards on a pond. The males are such a beautiful color.

I was walking around taking pictures of the ducks and a mama Killdeer came bombing out in front of me and her baby running along. She did her best to get me to leave. When I walked around the rock looking for the baby, it was laying there playing dead but was breathing. Only about the size of my thumb. When we walked away mom came scurrying back, baby jumped up and they ran off into the weeds.

It was very pretty this morning and Katie is off on Monday and she came out. We decided to go for a trail ride and that's what we did. It was so fun. Something set the horses off, not a clue what but Pepper put his head down and was going to do a rodeo buck. I got his head up and around but he was naughty for quite a few minutes before he settled down. Wrangler didn't buck with Bob but he was doing a tippy toe jig and Abby took off fast down the trail away from where we were. Finally got them all settled down and it was a relaxing ride the rest of the time. There was a lot of boggy ground and none of them liked that. I am a little nervous about crossing water on Pepper after last years catastrophe of him laying down. I do ride with spurs since then.

The rest of the week we will be getting ready to go camping this next weekend with our horses. We are going with three or four other couples and their kids. I sure do pray for nice weather.

Blessings.
