Not a good day with the weather that is for sure. We only got about half the snow they predicted and a freezing rainy mist on top of it. Made it very difficult to walk. We did not put the horses out today it was so treacherous walking.
I only went out to go to the grocery store and to pick up some prescriptions. Bob drove me in his 4 x 4 SUV and we slid around. I wanted snow but I did not want rain on top of it. I wanted to be able to hitch my sleigh up behind Rosie and go flying along.
I just listened to our president speak at the Memorial Service in Tucson. I am not a democrat but I did think his speech was outstanding. Leave the rhetoric and finger pointing alone and let people heal. Crazy people do unspeakable things. (mho)
I am cleaning out drawers and closets and finding all sorts of things. Not including the dust and dirt. I found the tags off of some trophies I won many years ago and donated to someone. I took the plates off and tossed them in the drawer. Now they are taped in my journal. I found pictures, old postcards that we were going to sell, some stuff that will go in the Goodwill bag. I found a little wooden box with our youngest daughters pony tail the first time she cut her hair. It is long. I found a cribbage board and we haven't played cribbage for years and years.. In the closet in the hall I found that Bob has 4 sets of worn out coveralls, a pair of boots with a big hole in the side and enough vests to supply an army. And I am not to the bottom yet. I think perhaps I should not have postponed getting into that closet so long. Who knows what I might yet find.
I sliced the end of my thumb opening a can of refried beans when I was getting supper. I finally got it to stop bleeding. We had tacos. Bob had to help me because he did not want thumb blood in everything. That is gross. Maybe he would have helped me anyway.
Blessings,

I HATE ICE
Rosie and Ditto watching me feed the others and patiently waiting for me to get to them. Bob and I are having a discussion on Rosie's age. I will have to go look it up in the file.
Bob is at a Back Country meeting this evening hence I did the chores. Don't mind as long as he has fed the cows. I hope the snow waits until he gets home.
I am thinking about what I want to do this spring and summer. For one I want to go to Montana to Clearwater Crossing for a weekend or more. Its not all that far and my favorite place to go ride. I also want to go down to Escure Ranch as soon as the snow is gone. Its a great place to ride. Not in the summer though - an abundance of rattle snakes. I think Bob and I are going over to the Ft. Wordon - not to ride but to take our camp trailer and just play on the beach
along the straights. We will be going to camp and ride with some friends of ours in Oregon in the Steens Mts. There is a wonderful campground with horse facilities not far from French Glen which is about 65 miles south of Burns. We will have to see how our finances hold up. With Bob not working, SS does not go too far. Someplace in there we will be going to Ellensburg to an adoption. I hope we can go to Lewiston too but don't know if they will want us to help. The last time I went to an Idaho adoption they did not do things like I was used to.
I am thinking about the Mustang Club meeting which will b the 27th. same place - Perkins on Argonne and Mission 6:00 PM. I will be sending out an e mail notice when it gets closer. Hope to have a good turnout. In October it was ONLY Bob and I.
Hope tomorrow is wonderful for you: Blessings

Guest Post-Bob
A few days I was on a rant about a letting in the Spokesman Review that offended me. Ultimately i did write a response and it was pulished. Bob wrote one also in case mine was not published and I would like to print it here.
L Moffats leter concerning the wild horses is a heart felt concern. The problem is, it is heart felt. Unfortantely it is a lot more comlicated that that. The wild horse is a ferral animal, not a natie species.
The horse will eat grass as close to the ground as a sheep where they are limited by the area let to them by private land, population ect. They have to be limited in number to remain as healthy as she saw them.
Where cows are allowed on grazing leases they are monitored and removed before they Can over graze an area. Before the late l970's the feral horses were considered a nuisance and were shot, captured for dog food or rounded up, herded into a pit and shot and buried.
BLM's mandate to regulate this is not perfect for every horse or for us the tax payer who support it. But it sure beats their fate in the past.
Please let people use common sense and science instead of just the heart. I am 72 years sol and feed 10 mustangs every night and morning. How many will L. Moffat like a her home.

I figured it out
Sage being led to the round pen. She was mincing along on ice.
A really unexciting (is that a word?) day. We went to church, had our maple bar on the way home and just layed around all day. I took a nap and that's about it. I must get to some things tomorrow. Its really cold out. It is supposed to be about 10 tonight. I don't mind if I don't have to be outside in it.
Blessings on this Sunday evening -

Printer help needed again
Katie helped me get the pictures off of the card out of my camera but I either have forgotten or something or other. Have some pictures I wanted to share but I can't get them off.
I haven't been anywhere for the last couple of days, just raining out and making a big mess and that is depressing and I didn't want to just gripe. So, I just stayed away.
Not much better today, just aggravated about the printer. The good things that matter to me anyway is Eastern Washington University won the national title last night beating Delaware by one point. It is the Division one NCAA. Their very first national title. Was so proud of them and then today the Seahawks beat New Orleans when no one said they could. Such a game. Hope they get to play Chicago but it will be a tough game whomever. Then, Gonzaga Basketball is on and the Zags are beating Portland by a sizable margin. If you're not a sports fan, just ignore that all.
Laura and Alexa came over today and we went to look at Sage. She was a little concerned about new faces but let me rub all over her face and rub her back. It is too icey to do much else. After the rain now it is freezing solid. Still quite a bit of snow so if we get more, it will back to the sleigh with Rosie.
Maybe pictures tomorrow. Blessings.

More Snow but fun
The hugging donkey. Chemmy loves to be cuddled.
Bob and I coming around the barn. It was so fun.
One of the reasons I had to sled out today, other than its fun, is a friend of Katie's is fighting breast cancer. She lives in the area and wanted to ride in the sleigh really bad. So she got her ride. She had chemo yesterday and had a hard time getting in and out but I was so happy to make her day brighter.
Other than that, we had fun with Cameron and Katie and our neighbor Theresa. Love it when people come by.
Not a whole lot going on. It is supposed to rain tonight and I hate that. It makes things so sloggy and messy. Then one digit cold again and more snow.
Blessings.
